Describes the variation in the intensity of solar energy receipt here at Earth's surface (which is known as "insolation"). Insolation thus relates to the driving-of-atmospheric-processes, and to the efficient use of solar panels by humans trying to generate electricity, and to the use of leaves by plants trying to produce chemical energy through photosynthesis, and to the relationship between insolation and skin cancer, etc.
