Description

Public safety personnel, school leaders and campus officials are facing critical questions in
planning for and responding to threats on or near campuses. How should leaders prepare for
a potential active shooter, a violent intruder or a hostile individual?
The Leadership and Ethics Institute (LEI) is pleased to present the third in a series of
symposiums on ethical issues impacting leadership. Our subject for this symposium is
campus safety. As an ethical leader are you equipped to facilitate candid discussions with
stakeholders and build strategies to address threats to campus safety? Leading ethically is a
conscious choice and demands being prepared.
If you answer "no" to any of these questions, this symposium is for you!
1. Are you are prepared to answer the tough questions from the media the next time
one of these incidents happens on a campus in your jurisdiction or a neighboring
community?
2. Do you have a written plan/policy for response to a campus threat of violence?
3. Are faculty, staff, students and collaborative partners trained in the policy?
4. Are regular practice drills spelled out in the policy and are they followed?
