As part of the Museum of Television and Radio's screening series
Antagonism over the Airwaves: a Look at Controversy in Television and
Radio, this seminar will examine comedy programs that have included
satirical, political, and social commentary and faced problems of
censorship. The discussion will include the legendary battles between
The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour and CBS over such topics as Vietnam,
race, and religion, as well as address political satire in today's
world.
