Empowering Parents, Creating Change

We are pleased to announce the debut of a new television series produced by the U.S. Department of Education. In the past decade, the U.S. Department of Education produced the Satellite Town Meeting. This fall, the Department will reformat and rename the satellite Town Meeting to create a livelier and more parent-focused program that will include resources, practical tips and activities to help all children achieve.

The January 2003 broadcast of Education News Parents Can Use celebrates the 1st year of the No Child Left Behind Act and its improvements in education in communities nationwide. The show will emphasize ways parents can promote educational excellence in the home and community. The evening’s conversation will explore questions such as:

How does the No Child Left Behind Act impact my home and community?
What options are available to parents whose children are attending underperforming and unsafe schools?
What can parents do to promote reading excellence in schools?
How are parents using the law to strengthen their children’s school and learning community?
How can parents best support their children’s educational growth during the after-school hours and in the home?
