No Child Left Behind 3rd Anniversary Show: Stories of Success
This program will celebrate the law's third anniversary by presenting videotaped success stories to help tell the story of how No Child Left Behind is changing the face of American education. Among the featured segments will be reports on: high-performing schools that were honored for narrowing of the achievement gap; a conversation between Secretary Paige and Dr. Richard Carmona, the Surgeon General on the obesity crisis among today's youth; an elementary school which experienced a dramatic turnaround as a result of an emphasis on professional development, data analysis and parent involvement; and a successful bullying intervention program.

The World of Abnormal Psychology
Identification and description of the various types of psychological abnormalities, deficiencies, and disorders which may interfere with a human individual's ability to cope with the demands of the surroundings. All of the major psychiatric categories will be covered as well as the types of personality problems which lead to domestic, social, and economic inadequacies, and in some instances, to difficulties with law. American Sign Language
American Sign Language (ASL) 100 is the first semester of a two-year long visual language learning for communicative competency in the Deaf Culture. This course focuses on both the comprehension skills development as well as the manual and non-manual production of ASL. Five basic categories will be emphasized in the coursework: grammatical elements, vocabulary development, fingerspelling, conversational skills and cultural knowledge.
The course will run continuously thru May 31st, 2005.

Drugs and Alcohol Prevention: Keeping Kids on the Right Track

The program will: share what the U.S. Department of Education offers schools and districts on drug and alcohol abuse prevention, explain what research tells us about the effect of drug and alcohol abuse on an adolescent’s physical and mental development, provide tips on how to talk to children about drug and alcohol abuse, explain what effective prevention programs look like, suggest ways that parents, schools and the community work together and share resources for parents and schools on prevention and intervention.
