Local WWII Veterans to Share Experiences and Memories from Wartime
Cerritos College’s Humanities and Social Science Division will host a panel of local World War II veterans in honor of Pearl Harbor Day in this live event.
The panel of veterans includes residents of L.A. and Orange Counties and students in a Whittier community class led by Dr. Elijah Levy, instructor with Cerritos College’s Older Wiser Learner (OWL) program (formerly the Emeritus College). The class provides war veterans with an opportunity to discuss and preserve their experiences via video- or audio-taped narratives, correspondence or visual materials such as scrapbooks or drawings.
Scheduled speakers:
- John Mooshagian
- Larry Banuelos
- Barbara Hudspeth
- Glenn Chambers
- Bernie Leyva
- Joe Carrillo
- Jose Rodriguez
Dr. Levy’s award-winning classes are part of the U.S. Veteran’s History Project, an effort to collect stories of wartime service for historical posterity.
