This program will highlight maintenance treatment strategies for maximizing mood stabilization in the maintenance phase of dipolar disorder. This program will discuss mood stabilizers that have current FDA indications. It will review controlled clinical trials in the maintenance phase of bipolar disorder, and it will summarize the clinical priorities in the maintenance phase vs. acute mania or bipolar depression.

This program explores the recognition of excessive sleepiness and pose strategies for improved patient outcomes.  Discussion topics include: identifying factors contributing to excessive sleepiness and their impact on patient wellness; screening tools for recognition and diagnosis of excessive sleepiness; and the role of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
