Technology Enhanced Facilities
In this video series, administrators at three colleges share their experiences funding new buildings and technology, selecting the architect, the consultants, and erecting the buildings. Faculty, staff and students talk about outfitting the new spaces with state-of-the-art computers, wired and wireless networks and presentation equipment and how this improved technology affects teaching and learning in the new facilities. Ohlone College's Hyman Hall, SJCC's new technology center and EVC's new Library/ETC, which opened in June 2004, are featured.

Mastering Digital Photography
This two-part video broadcast will help you take pictures with a digital camera, edit those pictures, and include them in your print materials, classroom presentations, and websites. You will learn what to look for
when shopping for a digital camera, review camera buttons and controls, discover elements of composition, and how to edit images using Photoshop. You will also learn pedagogical issues for successful integration of photographs into your materials.

Wireless Technology on Campus
Part One: Wireless Technology Deployment: Technology Developments and Best Practices
This session will focus on identifying emerging wireless technologies, especially those for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs), and the best practices for deploying them on campus. We will discuss the following new wireless standards: wireless protocols (IEEE-802.11g, 802.11i, and 802.16); security options, including WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access), EAP2 (Extensible Application Protocol), VPN (Virtual Private Networks), EAP/TLS (EAP/Transport Layer Security); and authentication options, including Kerberos, LEAP (Lightweight EAP) with a RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service), Certificate Servers, and IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems).

Part Two: Wireless Technology in the Classroom: Technology Developments and Best Practices
This session will focus on factors to consider when implementing new wireless technology to improve classroom teaching and research. The proper implementation of these technologies offers an opportunity to enhance the learning environment and make new teaching strategies available to the classroom teacher. We will discuss selection, configuration, and deployment of wireless mobile labs, wireless laptops, tablet PCs, and PDAs. In addition, you will learn what changes are required in the role of the instructor and the design of classroom spaces, such as lighting, student desk space, and power/network distribution. Finally we will address the impact of using notebooks in the classroom to enhance the teaching/learning process, such as student writing, internet research, and group collaborative projects.
