Across Cultures: Uniting the Community to Fight Drugs
This broadcast discusses problems that different cultures commonly face such as immigration status, acculturation pressures, lack of access to services, marginalization and political powerlessness, isolation, and a lack of resources impact their well-being.  In order to best reduce drug use among different populations, a local leader must understand the data, recognize certain risk and protective factors, develop new community-wide strategies, and learn new communication skills.

Weapons of Mass Destruction Standardized Awareness Course

Module 5 - Explosive Devices:
The fifth module provides awareness-level knowledge needed to recognize potential hazards and explosive devices (to include basic device type and design); device construction methods; and, the components of improvised explosive devices. Additionally, the effects of explosive devices and when to initiate evacuation are discussed. The module examines safety warnings and procedures during explosive incidents and demonstrates how one might become a target for a terrorist's secondary device.

What do effective preschool and early literacy programs look like? How can early childhood programs meet the needs of all students despite drastic preparation levels? In what ways does poverty affect a child’s acquisition of prereading skills? And what types of professional development should early childhood professionals employ to ensure students are prepared for elementary school?
