With the generous support of the Lumina Foundation for Education, AAHE presents "Weathering the Storm: Challenges for Community Colleges" that is the culmination of a year of study and discussion on issues facing community colleges. Among the discussants are George Boggs, president of the American Association of Community Colleges; Barbara Beno, executive director of the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges; Bernadine Chuck Fong, president of Foothill College; and Diane Troyer, president of Cy-Fair Community College.
This discussion among community college leaders began a year ago and was reported in the November/December issue of Change magazine.
In this May 11 broadcast, AAHE concludes its look into the challenges and opportunities facing community colleges including:
- The squeeze created by increasing enrollments and shrinking fiscal support
- Articulation of mission and identity in an ever-diverse world
- Development and sustenance of leadership
