Dr. Haas and the Cerritos College Global Consortium will conduct another interesting and thought provoking teleconference, “Islam Under Pressure.” Dr. Haas and the Global Consortium continue to address misunderstandings in our world, which result in disharmony. Providing a global forum fosters understanding through education and encourages the participants to discuss issues that hinder the peace process.
In this teleconference, “Islam Under Pressure”, Dr. Haas and the Global Consortium with scholars from the Islamic and Christian faith will illuminate and clarify their perspectives thereby educating the audience about the foundations of their faith and assisting the World-Wide audience to understand more clearly without misconceptions, their standpoints. In this vein of raising awareness, topics such as Anti-American sentiment, the increase in extremists groups and escalation of violent acts, plus the future of Islam will be addressed in an effort to bring about understanding on issues that foster hatred.
In this age of technology when extremists' violent acts are broadcast live, and hatred continues to escalate, Cerritos College, Dr.Haas and the Global Consortium believe that it is an ethical duty to provide a global forum to promote understanding through global education. Peace comes about through understanding; understanding begins with education.
