HIV/AIDS and STDs: Alabama's Epidemic

This broadcast discusses STDs, how the number of HIV/AIDS cases in Alabama rose dramatically in the 1980s, and has since peaked in the mid-1990s, with approximately 1,100 cases reported annually between 1995 and 1997. Also discussed is the fact that while HIV/AIDS cases have been reported all over Alabama, infections rates in southern Alabama are about twice those in the northern part of the state.

Preventing Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders

This program will provide a comprehensive overview of FASD. The progression of alcoholism will be discussed as well as biological and
social considerations when treating women with addictive disorders. Techniques that are useful in assessing, intervening,
and engaging women into recovery will be reviewed. |
