Town Hall Part 1:
Advancing Technology for California's Community College Students

Join us as we explore three new initiatives that will integrate, improve, and evolve existing technology services for the benefit of all California community college students and colleges. The Online Education Initiative (OEI) will dramatically increase the number of students who obtain college associate degrees and transfer to four-year colleges each year by providing online courses and services within a statewide CCC Online Education Ecosystem. The Education Planning Initiative (EPI) will use centralized and integrated technology solutions to better guide students to define and achieve their educational goals, while streamlining the process and providing support to faculty and staff that use the system.

The Common Assessment Initiative (CAI) will develop a Common Assessment System that will contain: test preparation; test delivery; test administration; data collection and course placement guidance.

The directors of the OEI, EPI, and CAI will speak about the goals of the initiatives and the history that led to their creation. A Q&A session will follow the talk.

Town Hall Part 2:
The California Community Colleges Online Education Initiative

Join our panel of experts to discuss the California Community Colleges Online Education Initiative.

This comprehensive, statewide initiative will dramatically increase the number of California students who obtain college associate degrees and transfer to four-year colleges each year by providing online courses and services within a statewide CCC Online Education Ecosystem. Special attention will be given to ensuring retention and success through basic skills support and other support services, especially for underserved and underrepresented cohort groups including those with disabilities.

Ultimately the initiative is expected to increase ease of use and convenience of the online experience, as well as significantly increase demand for online course delivery for California’s community college students.

The Online Education Initiative Launch Team officers responsible for academic affairs, student services, and technology will speak about the vision of the initiative and current progress, as well as the strategic approach to addressing its many challenges. A Q&A session will follow the talk.
