SIerra College Mechatronics students learn by doing to prepare for well paid local jobs installing, repairing and maintaining automated equipment. The program gives men and women an excellent foundation in electronics, mechanics and computer control by training them on state-of-the-art industrial equipment. Sierra College Mechatronics students explain what they like about the Mechatronics program and hands-on projects. Graduates describe their work and the career opportunities possible. Students working in the field take classes to upgrade their skills and some students change careers as result of the Mechatronics program. Others transfer to university. There is a high demand for students with certificates and degrees. Mechatronics graduates work in many industries, from heavy-equipment businesses such as lumber mills and ski resorts, through specialized high-tech manufacturers of underwater robots and LCD displays screens, to high-volume manufacturing like the bottling and printing industries.
