Description

Donna Milgram of IWITTS presents "Ensuring Your Female Students are Successful in the Lab" for MPICT (Mid-Pacific Information, Communication, and Technology) 2012 conference. Included are methods for teaching to female learning styles (this helps males, too), hands-on problems, working in pairs or groups, and other methods. Pair programming in Computer Science has been shown to increase the number of women (and men) persisting in their previously stated intent to pursue degrees in Computer Science. Instructors can accommodate different learning styles by modeling lab activity, lecturing, and having students carry out the activity in the lab. (MPICT January 5th)
