Award-winning, best-selling mystery writer Laurie R. King is the author of, among other collections, the Mary Russell stories, inspired by the adventures of Sherlock Holmes. King has declared, "No mystery writer, no matter where she or he stands in the spectrum from 'cozy' to 'hard-boiled,' can avoid the presence of The Great Detective in the shadowy recesses of the story. I merely chose to bring him forward into the spotlight." King will discuss her work as well as the challenges of keeping Holmes "alive" in the fictional works that have followed Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's death.
