Description

Here is the route mapped out in Google: http://goo.gl/maps/QFR3z

NOTE: The mapped route above is not entirely correct because Google has not logged all the trails behind Pierce College

I am not an experienced mountain biker so I think if I find the well trampled dirt paths on the hills behind Pierce College easy then anyone new to off-road biking should too. This is my most regular biking route if I only have an hour or so to ride and want to get in a good workout, some of these hills can be brutal on my asthmatic lungs. I edited out a prolonged stop going up Oxnard St (the longest and highest ascent). to get my breathing under control. Don't be ashamed to take your time too. Be sure to bring a lot of water on warm days.

According to my phone's GPS this route totals 319 vertical feet of uphill ascents, but it feel like more.

Pierce college is a community college on the west side of San Fernando valley in Woodland Hills. They have agricultural, and equestrian classes so watch out for farm animals. The paths are also periodically closed to allow their animals to graze in the fields undisturbed.

You can either pay for a day permit to park there, or you can park along Victory Boulevard at the north end of the campus for free.

This was shot on a GoPro Hero 3 Black at a frame every half second. I had to mount the GoPro to the side of my bike frame because that was the flattest surface the mount would stick to. I am currently looking for other mounts that will allow me to put the camera on the front of the frame so that the left side of the image won't be obscured by the steering column.
